Patriots Equal Best Victory Run Since Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
New England matched their longest winning run since the Tom Brady period as they overcame division rivals the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph increases the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had scored first at Foxborough with QB Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' opening drive
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third period to push the score to 21-7
"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales kicked a two field goals in the final period as the home side wrapped up the victory
